CONSORTIUM MEMBERS PRESENTATION
PEOPLES' FRIENDSHIP UNIVERSITY OF RUSSIA
Peoples' Friendship University of Russia is in actual fact not just a unique higher educational establishment, but it also reflects most of the new trends typical to a big number of higher education institutions of Russia. It is particularly vital nowadays in terms of a complex reorganization process of higher education in Russia as well as educational system as a whole. First of all, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia is almost the only university of this country, initially set up as a "classic" university, which provides training for future engineers, medics, agronomists, economists, physicists, lawyers and other specialists of 35 areas of studies. Secondly, it is the first to introduce a two-level system of higher education on a pilot basis and still in the framework of former USSR, long before it was accepted in other countries of the CIS. Finally, and most importantly, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia is the only higher educational establishment within the CIS, whose name is the "trademark of the University" and which is in actual fact a University of Friendship. As a consequence it is necessary to train skilled personnel not just for foreign countries, the CIS states but for national educational establishments of Russia too and thus to contribute greatly to solving a great deal of this country's geopolitical problems.
Considering this aspects, Prof. Evgeny Martynenko has spent most of his training experience in learning the aspects to improve the higher educational system with particularly regard to the West European ones in order to get the information for the development of the Russian Universities. He paid also more attention to the International environment from the humanitarian and public Law grounding and in different Russian academic Conferences he underlined the need to improve the quality of the Russian Certification as far as Doctorate (Aspirantura, Doktor Nauk) is concerned.
Because of his great experience and after a large number of discussion among the people involved in this project on the possibility of implementing a program called "European Studies at the Universities of the Russian Federation" (EUROSTAR) about the development of the teachers' and students' training and the study of the most important aspects of the European surrounding (civil and society, economics and institutions related to the process of the Enlargement of EU). Mr. Alessandro Figus invited Prof. Martynenko at the University of Genova where he met Prof. Antonio Guerci and his collaborator Dr. Diana Spulber as a language support and Ph.D. in anthropological and psychological sciences.
DEPARTMENT OF ANTHROPOLOGICAL SCIENCES (DISA)
The Department of Anthoropological Sciences (DISA) of the University of Genoa, held by Prof. Antonio Guerci, has been conceived of as a melting pot of all the disciplines and research lines relating to the field of Human Sciences and European Culture.
More precisely, the research areas and cultural scope of the Department revolve around the thorough and detailed understanding of man from a scientific point of view. Starting with the analysis of the biological and physical bases and later through the study of the genesis and formation of man's psyche and personality, DISA researchers aim at reflecting upon the possibility of training the human being.
The cultural project of the Department may be synthesised as follows:
- A great interest in when and how personality unbinds itself of the genetic ties and turns into a psycho-social structure
- An unbiased attitude towards the cultural context, which is seen as the intersection of the biological project
- Particular interest in communication, language and cognitive processes as the means of bio-social adaptation
- The need for the analysis, interpretation and ensuing empirical assessment of the models of training interaction in the different cultural contexts
- The study of the health-case strategies adopted by different populations over time and across space as a result of man's adaptation to eco-environments and as a transition from biology to culture.
